AKC Agility Nationals

This past weekend Jim, Tango, Teller and I were fortunate to have run in the 2012 AKC Agility Nationals in Reno, Nevada.  To be invited, dogs need to earn 6 double Q's and (in Tango's case) 400 speed points.  This means dogs need to be both fast and accurate to qualify.  The ParCoeur Pems did an outstanding job running 5 out of 6 runs clean.  Here are some of the highlights:

We had a wonderful time and were so glad to represent the agility Corgis from Utah.  Teller finished 10th in his class after the Standard and Jumpers runs, and both he and Tango ran their hearts out.  We are so glad we had the opportunity to participate in the Nationals.  Congrats to all the amazing teams and their accomplishments!!

March Madness

March was a busy month for the ParCoeur Crew.  It started with Sapphire (CH Coedwig's Blue Sapphire) earning her CGC - and getting her first letters after her name!  This was only the beginning for the Cardigans as both Sapphy and Bear earned AKC rally titles at the Golden Spike Dog Obedience Club trials.

Sapphy earned her Rally Novice title in 3 runs with placements on each run, including a 1st!  She was in a very large and competitive class, and she did a great job.  This is following Sapphy's Select Bitch wins at the Denver, CO all-breed shows in February.  She added 4 more points to her quest for GCH, and earned 1 more win over another CH.  Sapphire is a very versatile girl who is going to show off her "pretty" side by doing a couple more confirmation shows and will be starting some agility training.  I think she will take to that quickly and will have a blast!

Bear (aka Aero) earned  his Rally Advanced title at the GSDOC trials with 3 first place wins, including a perfect 100!  He did a great job and we were so glad to finish our RA title under judge Jill Jones (who has a Cardigan herself).  Here is Bear's title run:

And not to be outdone, Emmy earned her first double Q in AKC agility in Caldwell, ID over St. Patrick's Day weekend.  She is giving Teller and Tango a run for their money, and loves showing the boys how fast she can run.  Good job, Emmy!

Long overdue update!!

Things have been busy at ParCoeur the last couple of months and I am behind in sharing what we have been up to.  Some of the brags have been posted on FB, so consider this a recap:

Emmy started out 2012 by earning new titles in AKC agility in January.  She ran like a pro to take first placements in Excellent Standard and Jumpers and earned both her AX and AXJ at the Golden Spike Dog Obedience Club trial under judge Mark Upshaw. (Photo by Randy Gaines)

And in February, Teller earned his PAX2 at the Salty Dogz AKC agility trial.  He also earned his MXP5 under judge Christy Bowers. (Photo by Randy Gaines)

Congratulations to my wonderful Pems who work hard and are so much fun to run with. Thank you both for being such wonderful partners!

Vegas, Baby!

(Tango in the groove in Vegas!)

3 of the ParCoeur Corgis got to go to Las Vegas this past weekend to play at an AKC agility trial held by the Las Vegas Poodle Club.  Emmy, Tango and Teller all had a wonderful time basking in the sun, eating yummy food (lunch was served by a chef at the Bellagio!) and running fun courses designed and judged by one of our all time favorite judges, Janet Budzynski.  There were plenty of ribbons shared by all 3 Corgis, and a few first place toy prizes as well!  The best part was we got to have a wonderful time running with our dogs at our last AKC trial of the year.  Jim and I are looking forward to next year's trials, and are so happy to have ended a wonderful agility year on such a high note.

Emmy, Tango and Teller - thanks for a great agility year.  Here is to a lot more to come!!

A Look at Emmy the Pemmie

Emmy is our sweet little Pem girl, and everyone who sees her falls in love with her.  She has huge heart and a huge smile - and huge work ethic to match!

Emmy came to us when she was a baby.  She was a rescue that had been rehomed twice for "having seizures".  We found out Em was fed horrid food (human junk food) from her families, and then would run like crazy, stop, lay on her side and was non-responsive. She was rehomed because the adults in the first family didn't want their kids scared by a dog who was "seizing", then by the second family for similar reasons.
We later found out Emmy had a unique problem with her blood (odd red and white counts) that has corrected itself as she got on a better diet and got older.  She occasionally gets really tired and just stops cold and sleeps, but for the most part, she is a healthy girl now who has not let her rough start in life get in her way.

We tried to rehome Emmy a couple of times, but ultimately, she stayed with us.  I am so glad she did!  Emmy is my "go to" dog when Teller isn't around.  She is smart, sweet, feisty and amazingly talented!

Emmy has had quite the run the last couple of weeks. She earned her JHD on sheep at the AHBA trial, finished her Open titles at the Samoyed Ntl AKC agility trial, and then earned her ASCA Started- Ducks AND a High In Trial!  She is giving Teller and Tango a run for their money, and is so much fun to work with in every venue we try.

Congrats, Emmy, on coming so far and on your new titles, and thank you for being such a great addition to our family!

Awesome Agility (and Herding) Weekend!

This past weekend was a fun one for the ParCoeur Corgis.  Teller, Tango and Emmy all got to play agility at the new Salty Dogz Agility Club  fun match on Friday.  This is how they all did:

A double Q for Teller, a lovely Jumpers Q for Tango and a double Q for Emmy!  Thanks to judge LaVar Burton for the wonderful courses and the Salty Dogz Club for the lovely ribbons.

The trial this weekend was hosted by the Samoyed Club of America in conjunction with their Nationals.  Emmy and Tango ran at that trial, and had loads of fun.  Emmy earned her Open Standard and Jumpers titles, and moved up to Excellent Standard, where she earned her first Excellent Q.  Not to be outdone, Tango earned not one, but two double Q's at this trial!  He is 8 away from his MACH.  Congratulations, Pemmies!

Then today was Emmy's chance to me a star by herself. She got to work sheep at the AHBA trial (also hosted by the SCA), and earned her JHD title under judge Robyn Garrett.  Here is a very happy Emmy showing off her new ribbon and cute little sheep "trophy":

So, huge congrats to the ParCoeur Pems on an amazing weekend!
And thanks to Salty Dogz and SCA for great judges, great venues and lovely ribbons!

The Cardi Boys in the Cardigan Bulletin

What an awesome surprise to go outside to get the mail today and see the Fall Cardigan Bulletin had arrived!  This issue focuses on the performance Cardigans, and it is very inspiring to see ad tributes to some of these talented dogs.

This is the first issue that includes ads for the ParCoeur Cardigan crew.  Penni Adrian did a lovely job designing the ads for  Parker and Aero.  For those of you who don't have your Bulletin yet, or for those who don't get the Bulletin, here is a sneak preview:

Thank you, Penni, for the beautiful layout!  And congratulations to all the new performance title holders and their handlers.  Aero and Parker are looking forward to joining your ranks in 2012!
